SE-202

Sepcor’s SE-202 is specifically formulated as an acid additive in crude systems with heavy asphaltene deposits or asphaltene/paraffin deposits. SE-202 is hydrotropic and unlike other mutual solvents/co-solvents, stays miscible in acid through the entire work-over. SE-202 will not separate from acid in static conditions. The special hydrotropic nature of SE-202 also enhances the miscibility of other acid additives such as corrosion inhibitors, surfactants, anti-sludging agents and demulsifiers that are not soluble in the treatment mix and tend to separate in static conditions.

This unique feature insures hydrocarbon stripping, water-wets acid solubles in the formation matrix and promotes maximum performance from all constituents. This results in efficient acid usage within the matrix and better permeability to achieve improved crude flowrates.

Feature Benefit

Miscible in acid Complete usage of acid at every point of contact

Will not adsorb to formation Deep radial penetration

Lowers surface tension Improved permeability for maximum flow

Lowers interfacial tension Faster fluid recovery

Cost Effective Effective at concentrations of 5-10%

Hydrotropic Enhances performance of all other additives

Sepcor’s SE-202 is compatible with foamed acid application and gelled acid frac-fluids.

Case History SE-202

The Well

The subject well is completed in the Madison formation in the Big Horn Basin of Wyoming. The crude produced contains an asphaltene content of 6% and paraffins of 2.4%

The Problem

Suspected scale damage. Past acid treatments with mutual solvent had marginal success. Production rates had dropped from 185 BPD to less than 100 BPD

The Solution

Using a selective perf wash tool with a 2 ft. spacing, 176 ft of perfs were treated with a mixture of 15% HCl and SE-202 at 20 gallons per foot. SE-202 was added to HCl at 10% by volume

The Result

The Madison well exceeded the target of 185 BPD when oil production rate increased to 347 BPD and maintained this level for over two months before slowly declining to the original target one year later. No scale squeeze treatment followed this workover.
