SE-220 is a blend of selected oil and water soluble alcohol solvents that are extremely effective in treating paraffinic and asphaltenic crude oils. In wells with asphaltene and paraffin damage, SE-220 is an excellent preflush to acid treatment. SE-220 solvent strips and solubilizes the hydrocarbon layer so the acid can concentrate on the acid soluble layer. This results in a highly efficient acid treatment for cleanout.

Unlike other additives and mutual solvents, SE-220 can be applied in concentrated form to remove hydrocarbon deposits. When used in downhole applications, SE-220 is effective in:

* Removing blockages caused by oil based muds
* Removing blockages caused by water based drilling fluids
* Will not adsorb on the formation leaving the formation water-wet
* Lowers surface and interfacial tensions
* Improves permeability

Economics involved in the use of SE-220 can prove to be quite favorable. A well-designed treatment may be less costly and yield faster payouts than other alternatives.
